I would like to apologize for the delayed release of our fall schedule. Besides our usual slate of events, the MSTCA tries each year to schedule meets at the sites which the MIAA selects for its championship meets inmid-November.

Another successful MSTCA weekend is in the books! Our two Freshman-Sophomore meets were a huge success, serving over 2400 athletes over two days at Middleborough and Weymouth.

The entry deadline for both meets is *Tuesday 5/9 at 8:00 PM.* Reminder that there are *NO LATE ENTRIES *for any MSTCA meet this spring.

There has been a shortage of officials at our meets throughout the current year and the MSTCA is asking for your help to increase the number of track & field officials in the state.

One year ago today, i learned that the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association (MSTCA) was without a President and the job was mine if I said yes to the call to step up! I did and can honestly say that this was a challenging, but rewarding year.

The MSTCA is pleased to announce this year's indoor track & field coaches of the year.

Coaches, the Rising Championships will be held on Tuesday (February 14) before the start of the MIAA Divisional Championships on February 15-19.

The Coaches Invitational on Saturday and Sunday was the MSTCA’s last full weekend of meets in the 2022-23 indoor season. A thanks to all who came out and competed and to the officials who helped fill the gaps with so many college meets happening at the same time.

The MSTCA will be broadcasting both Coaches Meets Live on MSTCA.TV. The meet will also be offered for a small fee after the completion of the meet. This wil be a way for the MSTCA to offset the streaming expenses.

Spectators will see a new entry process at our meets in the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic

Again this year I would like to share some changes you should expect to see in the 2022-23 MSTCA Indoor Track & Field season. Some of them are relatively minor. At least one, the clerking procedures, is a SIGNIFICANT CHANGE from past practice. PLEASE READ.

The MSTCA Do it Clinic will be held on December 30th this year. This is slightly later than we have had in years past. This is a Free Clinic being offered by the MSTCA, which is different than the Reach for the Sky Learn by Doing Clinic.

The MIAA Cross Country State Championship will take place this Saturday, November 19th at Fort Devens.

Indoor Track is rapidly approaching and some coaches may want to get a jump start with the 2022-2023 Season. Here is a list of all the forms needed for the upcoming season.

MIAA XC/Track & Field Committee Meeting Update September 21, 2022

We have listed below some of the current important documents that will be needed for the upcoming cross-country season.

Shrewsbury High School will be hosting a Speed and Performance Clinic on December 3rd & 4th.

The MSTCA has announced that the 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees & Special Award Recipients will be honored on September 11, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at the Barrett's Ale House, West Bridgewater, 508-510-2022. Tickets are $40.

The dates below will be added into our Calendar section shortly, but here is a quick glimpse of all the *MSTCA Events* for the next six months.

The South Shore Twilight Invitational entry deadline has been pushed up to Wednesday evening at 11:59pm. This is to accommodate some League Championship meets competing on Wednesday.

Distance Medley Relay April 15, 2022

The Boston Holiday Challenge will take center stage at Reggie Lewis Center on December 27. The meet will host teams from New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

We would like to thank the athletes and coaches who attended the 16th annual Do-It Clinic yesterday. We had an inspirational opening to the day with the Keynote Speaker, Rich Kennedy followed by some great instruction by all of our esteemed and legendary clinicians.

Just a reminder to all Indoor Coaches that the WinterFest entries will close at 11:59pm on Tuesday. No late entries are allowed.

The "Do It" Clinic is held annually in early December, offering participants helpful training tips and advice on a variety of Track & Field events, including the shot put, high jump, triple jump, hurdles, short sprints, long sprints, middle distance and distance events.

As we approach what we hope to be a full and relatively-normal season of indoor track and field, I wanted to introduce both myself and some of the changes to expect this season.

The post season is rapidly approaching and the MSTCA Cross-Country Poll #3 paints a clear picture of the favorite teams in the weeks ahead.

All this considered, the MSTCA (in conjunction with Marathon Sports), is assisting Mass General Hospital this year with their annual Caring for a Cure Race (which will take place at the Marshfield Fairgrounds). We hope you will consider walking or running the race, or at least helping us promote it for a great cause. Keep in mind this event is for both WALKERS & RUNNERS!

What an incredible weekend of racing in Massachusetts! It has been two years since the MSTCA has held the McIntyre Twilight Meet and this year certainly did NOT disappoint!

It wouldn’t be Fall without an MSTCA Cross Country meet on a 60 degree October day. Despite the meets we offered last fall, I think we can all agree that there’s nothing like a fully operational XC season in Massachusetts.

The 2021 Cross-Country Season is starting to ramp up and we have our first rankings of the season.

2021 promised us a better year, but on Tuesday March 23, 2021, Tim and Lori Cimeno received news that is drastically changing their lives. For Lori, a dizzy morning at work quickly accelerated to trip to Newton-Wellesley Hospital and a shocking Leukemia diagnosis.

Please consider taking a look at the following site and taking part in a memorial run for a good cause. Kristen Hoar-Polizzotto was a beloved MSTCA member and coach who valiantly battled and fought cancer and was a role model to so many athletes, parents, and colleagues.

Today being the FIRST DAY of the FALL 2 "Indoor" Season, we wanted to send another reminder to all members who have not renewed for the year, and potentially new MSTCA members to renew or begin their memberships as soon as possible as to ensure you will stay on the email list to maintain receiving pertinent information for all things track and field for the next two seasons.

After three consecutive safe and successful Invitationals, the MSTCA has opened registration for the BSR Invitational. This meet is open to members of the high school graduating classes of 2017 - 2024. Events will be seeded by time (fast to slow), not by age group.

SAY GOOD-BYE TO 2020 (FINALLY)! HOLIDAY CHALLENGE, Wheaton College. This year’s final meet will be the meet of 20’s!!

Tonight's practice sessions at the Haas Center, Fillmore Drive, Wheaton College, originally scheduled to start at 4:30 have been cancelled!

The MSTCA is committed to providing a safe environment for indoor track and field athletes to both race and train during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly 180 athletes travelled down to Wheaton College to compete in the 2020 Winterfest. It was the perfect meet to start the season, as the MSTCA rolled out some major adjustments to keep the athletes and staff safe at all times.

Nearly 180 athletes will be at Wheaton College on Saturday for the annual MSTCA Winter Festival. The meet includes seven running and two field events and per usual Bay State Running will be there providing all the coverage, including a LIVE stream of the day's events from start to finish.

The Winterfest has been designed to provide athletes with a chance to set an early-season mark so they may work to improve upon it throughout the winter season.

The MSTCA would like to announce a partnership with Wheaton College to host practices and meets at the college’s Haas Center throughout the months of December and January. These events will be open to any student-athlete who resides in Massachusetts, or who attends a Massachusetts high school.

What’s better than one COVID-19 friendly Cross Country Meet? Two! The MSTCA is proud to announce the Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational will be held at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro on Sunday November 1st.

What a day. Wow. I just wanted to sincerely thank all of you for making today's Frank Kelley Invitational not only a success, but truly one for the ages. I can honestly say that if it weren't for each and every one of you, what we witnessed today could never have happened.

Ultimately, we respect the decision made by the WDC administration, just as we respect the previous decision the Cape Cod Fairgrounds administration made to close their facility (site of our Twilight Invitational) this fall.

The COVID-19 pandemic has uprooted our sense of normalcy and left us with many unanswered questions. As schools look to start back up, districts are moving to hybrid or fully remote models while simultaneously seeking out extra-curricular opportunities for their student-athletes.

Matt Castriotta (Hubbardston MA / Quabbin Regional High School) is this year’s recipient of the USA Track & Field -New England (USATF-NE) Youth Service Award. Matt founded the Massachusetts State Middle School Track and Field championship in 2011, which missed its 10 year anniversary due to the current Coronavirus situation. Beginning as an abbreviated one day meet with one division, the 2019 meet hosted over 70 schools and 1,500 athletes in a three division meet over a 12 hour day. Additionally, he has initiated the Central Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts Middle School Cross Country championships.

Every school district/program should consult with their local health department to determine which risk level to start this program safely. Continued consultation with local health department should be used to determine when progression to the next risk level can be initiated.

The MSTCA is happy to announce the names of the student-athletes who have been awarded $100 Camperships for the summer of 2020. Congratulations to all of the winners!

I am so blessed. I have been given a perspective of appreciation that I never, ever thought I would be afforded. I don’t feel guilty. I don’t feel sorry. I don’t feel angry. I don’t feel “why me?” (I do feel loopy sometimes because of the drugs though that’s for sure).

My hope is that if we work together to share and promote Kent's fundraiser, we can allow Kent and Kaylene to focus on health and family during this particularly challenging time.

At a meeting of the MIAA cross country subcommittee held on Tuesday, April 28, a motion was made to pass on a proposal to MIAA T&F/X-C Committee for discussion and a vote Monday, June 8th.

The MSTCA & BSR Teams are looking for volunteers to help archive all the Outdoor All State Meet Champions. We will then be able to filter all the data like the current Cross-Country list on the new MSTCA site.

It is with heavy heart we contact our members today. As we are sure most of you have already heard, Governor Baker, with the assistance of the Mass DOE, Mass Teacher's Association, the Mass Association of School Superintendents, and many other relative educational boards, made the decision to stick with Remote Learning throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Rest assured coaches, in the wake of the recent developments from the MIAA Board of Directors Meeting, we have multiple contingency plans in place for whatever the ultimate outcome of this season will be.

Begin spring season no earlier than May 4, 2020 and have completion of regular season and tournament games by June 27, 2020 with consideration of June 28, 2020 for weather and facility needs.

In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and the uncertainty going forward, the MSTCA has made the decision to postpone the Annual Awards Banquet (originally on June 14th at the Lantana) to September 20th (still a potential & tentative date).

In light of Governor Baker’s March 25, 2020 mandate that all schools remain closed until May 4th, the status of spring sports will be addressed by the Board of Directors.

The MIAA Board of Directors voted today, March 16, 2020, to amend the start of the 2020 spring sports season in light of recent mandates from Governor Baker and recommendations from governing health agencies

In light of the recent public health concerns regarding the Covid-19 (Coronavirus), and after receiving updates from the CDC, locally from the Governor, DESE, the Superintendents’ Association, and listening to you (the coaches), the MSTCA has made the decision to cancel the New England Track and Field Clinic. Massachusetts has declared a state of emergency on Tuesday due to the ongoing concerns about the coronavirus.

Over 140 Athletes reported to the Reggie Lewis Track for the 25th annual MSTCA Girls Pentathlon.

The Robert McIntyre Scholarship Committee will award $100 Summer Camperships for the Summer of 2020.

Clyde Hart will not be able to attend this year’s clinic as he has undergone Achilles surgery due to a fall and unable to travel. Coach Hart has promised to be back and speak at our 2021 clinic next year. We wish him a speedy recovery.
